OVERVIEW

The Role:

Our client is looking for a Director of Data Science to lead their advanced analytics, machine learning, statistics, and algorithms team. The purpose of the team is to use these techniques to plan and optimize advertising dollars.  You will partner with  clients to translate their business goals into meaningful metrics, and buy media across all channels to drive those target outcomes.  

What You’ll Do:

  • Spearhead the design, creation, and implementation of scientific approaches to media planning
  • Drive the adoption of new tools and approaches you build across the team
  • Assess and onboard measurement vendors in the industry
  • Assist with and audit media plans the team is actively working on 
  • Create best practices decks for the organization and, in some cases, for our clients
  • Serve as a thought leader on evidence-based media planning for the broader team
  • Occasionally speak with clients on aspects of our scientific process
  • Work closely with other senior leads to develop solutions that work for everyone
  • Collaborate with our Strategy and Studios teams to ensure our media planning process is fully integrated through all verticals of our client

You Have:

  • A degree from a well-regarded college or university.  STEM degrees are preferred. 
  • 6+ years of experience in data science, data-driven marketing, preferably at an agency, consulting firm, or large in-house media activation team
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in managing projects and driving them forward
  • Some hands-on-keyboard experience implementing scientific solutions yourself is a major plus

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Robust analytical skills
  • Knowledgeable about data-driven marketing, data science, and statistics
  • Understanding of the advertising and media landscape, especially as pertains to measurement vendors and ad platforms
  • Strong project management skills
  • Basic coding skills are a major plus

  • Detail-oriented with a desire for managing the quality & accuracy of analytics, including checking your own and others’ work
  • A desire to work on challenging problems that require flexibility in approach — everything from on-the-fly analytics to statistics, big data, machine learning, and mathematical algorithms (but not alone!)
